Need for Speed: The Run

Developer Black Box can be said to be very ambitious with Need for Speed: The Run. Not only adding gameplay elements quick time events (QTE) but they also give away the story and characters, the three elements which may very rarely be found earlier in the game genres were racing in general. Unfortunately, although it can create a racing game with a new style, execution of Black Box is very far from the maximum that is present below the potential.

We take control of Jack Rourke, a powerful rider who follow racing competition called The Run to obtain $ 25 million. Jack desperately need to pay a group gift from Chicago mob was after him. Why Jack chased from one end of America to the other end? Why was he fired? Why he became a very important target? Black Box does not provide any answers to these questions so that the stories and characters to be bland.

What about the QTE that could be the talk when it was first demonstrated by the trailer? The gameplay has only a very small part on The Run, and then only take place in just seconds. The existence of QTE is just a ‘spice’ which, if not there then will not have a significant impact.

Get into the car, The Run seemed like the traditional NFS games to bring racing game with old-school arcade style. Racing on slippery roads and snow covered, passing in a sharp bend on the edge of a cliff, and winding past the car is an attraction opposite the former NFS series in which managed to create a feeling tense and frightening.

The Run is a racing competition throughout the 3000 miles with more than 200 other racers as opposed to being divided into many levels. There are several types of modes are divided fairly balanced, like a standard race between 8-10 opponent, time attack, race battle where you have to get through and hold your opponent until the specified time runs out, and police pursuits that require you to flee from police chase in the or outside the car or through the roadblocks. Various types of modes are very rarely performed two times in a row, so it feels varied races.
